AUDIO - VISUAL DEPARTMENT
The department has a vast collection of archival radio program recordings.
Among them are: complete recordings of the “Margutis” radio program in Chicago,
“Pelkiu zibureliai,” Radio Liberty, Radio Free Europe, and Voice of America –
Lithuanian Broadcast. It also houses over 300 videotapes, including a
comprehensive collection of video footage documenting the events that transpired
in Lithuania 1989-1991. For many years, the department was headed by M.
Smilgaite and T. Miglinas. The most recent acquisitions are Lithuanian American
Television broadcast recordings and video footage donated by the Genocide and
Resistance Research Center of Lithuania.
