Kazimieras Baltrimaitis laid the foundation for the LRSC Archives of Fine Art when he donated his vast collection of documentary materials on Lithuanian artists: exhibit catalogues, press clippings on their works and exhibits beginning in 1908. Upon receiving such a generous gift the Lithuanian Research and Studies Center, in collaboration with the Ciurlionis Art Gallery, decided to unite both the collections of paintings and art works in other media and the documentary collections into one, central archive of fine art. For many years, two women, Halina Moliejus and Magdalena Stankunas most generously volunteered their time in overseeing the Archives, expertly handling and cataloguing the ever-growing collection of paintings and other materials. Among the true gems in the collection are a rare series of original watercolor paintings by M. Dobuzinskis and a complete, individually signed folio by V. Petravicius. The most recent Archives acquisition is the sizeable collection donated by noted Lithuanian artist/photographer Algimantas Kezys.
